Fortunately, IGN loves you and is doing you a solid by deciding to breakdown the turntable hardware, piece-by-piece, so that if and when the time comes that you opt to pick up a bundle, you're prepared.Finish The most immediately recognizable differences between the Standard and Renegade edition bundles are their finishes. The Standard Edition's components feature a matte finish, most of which are black, while the crossfader, legs, effects dial, and record platter's accents and top panel are silver. On the other hand, the Renegade Edition features a high-gloss finish on the top-most panels of its design with a matte black frame on the bottom, while the crossfader, effects dial, and record platter accents are all reflective gold.Although the Renegade Edition does have a sleek and sexy vibe, the high-gloss finish smudges quickly and collects dust particles easily. Although we can't verify whether or not the level of resistance in controls varies between models or simply from unit to unit, we did notice a slight difference between the Renegade Edition and the Standard Edition units we tested. From what we could tell, the crossfader slider and effects dial felt more firmly mounted with a little extra resistance.Although we do prefer the look of the silver finish of the Standard Edition, the feel of the Renegade Edition's crossfader and effects dial is far superior. Construction With exception to the metallic crossfader, effects dial, and finish differences, the build materials of the two turntables are practically identical. The two turntables weigh the same and the frames are constructed in exactly the same fashion, so there are not many significant durability benefits of the unit as a whole. Packaging and Extras The Standard Edition comes in a medium sized box with the turntable peripheral, game, instructions, and two AA batteries.

The Renegade Edition, on the other hand, includes a lot more, which is where seems to hope to justify the extra $80 in retail costs to the consumer. The Renegade Edition includes the game, specialized turntable, CD with exclusive tracks from Eminem and Jay-Z, as well as a hardshell carrying case with attachable legs, which turns the case into a portable stand. The case is of surprisingly high quality and seems fitting for a real touring musician, albeit a plastic music game peripheral playing one.Where the case starts to lose its luster is when you attach the extendable legs, which screw into the four corners of the bottom panel. Unfortunately the legs screw in at an angle and the mounting mechanism is pretty loose, so when the stand is all set up, it has a tendency to wobble.

Although the included CD does not include the mashup mixes created in the game, Jay-Z and Eminem fans will enjoy.
