We're asking this so that the mods can verify that the post was linked from the source, which can be tricky if OP does not explicitly state that somehow. For example, if an artist hosts their art on Imgur, and somebody posts a link to that art, the mods are likely to assume the art has been rehosted unless OP tells us otherwise.
