The Sims 4 Dine Out Tips

The Sims 4 Dine Out Tips 5,8/10 2459 reviews

Dine Out allows you to have restaurants in your game – as owner and as visitor. Unfortunately, there’s a few issues and bugs that can make the experience a bit frustrating. Oxygen not included mods folder. Some seem connected and some seem separate issues so it’s difficult to say what the bugs and what the symptoms are.

In all restaurants the sims coming in to eat just congregate around the host station. This happens with restaurants I have made and maxis made ones like chez lama. I have tried moving tables around to create more space and clear pathways to tables but this makes no difference. It's incredibly hard for my sims that own restaurants because their patrons never sit and stay at their tables, so they don't make any money because the patrons never eat their meals and leave! I've noticed this also when one of my active sims takes a npc sim out to dinner. They never stay at the table unless I keep them in constant conversation. Please fix this

I never suffered this problem. I really enjoyed DO. Tips: Put a bench or couch near the door so they will sit down and wait instead of bunching up. Don't put anything in the restuarant to distract them. Such as a stereo or TV. (If you do put it upstairs out of the way or in a back room so they will at least clear out the entrance.) Make sure you have actually set up the menu. Don't put items on the menu your employee can't cook.
Make sure to train your host/hostess since they are the ones that seat customers. Then you can train your waiter/waitress as you can afford it because your Sim can help with clearing tables etc.
Build smaller, larger restaurants don't fill up (Low star rating) in the beginning.
Do not play Maxis restaurants they are setup terribly. As a player we know when something causes problems or not and building your own can help you design it in a way where they can't bunch up and crowd the door.
ETA: NPC run restaurants depends on the level of skills those employees have. So, if it's your first visit they aren't going to have very high skills. Things get better the more times you visit a place with your Sims. But it starts all over when one dies and has to be replaced by the game and or they get culled. Put them in a house but don't play them.
ETA: Don't have any clubs that have eating at restaurants as one of their activities. These Sims never sit down and eat, since about ten patches ago. They only congregate at a restaurant since several patches back so when you go to a restaurant with your Sim you will see them standing around yaking..disband any clubs that have' go to a restaurant' as an activity.

  • Thank you @rosemow this is very helpful. I have been welcoming guests before they are seated to increase the rating quickly but it may be distracting them. The jam doesn't ever seem to clear so I'll try disallowing new customers until it they are seated and then allowing new customers again.
I'll update as to whether or not the issue is resolved in case anyone else is having similar issues.
    Thank you!
